Disability related harassment – a call for evidence in Westminster

Recent diability harassment and hate crimes such as the tragic Fiona Pinkerton case has prompted the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is investigate how public authorities are tackling harassment and its causes. Westminster Equalities Partnership is co-ordinating Westminster's response for the Council, Police and NHS and wants individuals and organisations to share their experiences.

The EHRC wants evidence from disabled people, their families or carers, disability organisations and public authorities to inform this investigation and any recommendations.

  • What you think are effective approaches to preventing and eliminating disability-related harassment.
  • What are the best ways to address the causes of disability-related harassment including prejudice and negative attitudes
  • How can public authorities such as the Council, the NHS and the Police, best involve disabled people in the prevention and elimination of disability-related harassment and addressing its causes
  • How can public authorities enable disabled people to effectively report disability-related harassment
  • Any examples of the diverse experiences and needs of disabled people related to their impairment type, age, gender, gender identity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief and sexual orientation.
     

The deadline for responding to the Westminster Equalities Partnership is 20 August. September.
