There is no stopping Westminster’s service users representatives. Members of the Westminster Learning Disability Partnership Board were invited to the launch of a new learning disability strategy, “Valuing People Now” This cross-government strategy sets out a vision to enable people with learning disability to have the same life chances and aspirations as other citizens and to be treated with the same dignity and respect.
Habib Ali (Service User Rep), Mrs Slater (Family Carer Rep. on the Partnership Board) and Patricia O’Connoll (Member of the London wide Partnership board) had the opportunity to meet Phil Hope, Minister for Care Services.
Westminster was asked to attend because it has been cited as a good example, both with regards to involving service users and family carers as well as setting up innovative services.
