REFURBISHMENT OF COUNCIL HOUSE

Westminster City Council and London Business School have entered exclusive negotiations over the lease of Council House and its annexe building from 2013. The contract for the property, located at 97-113 Marylebone Road, London NW1 5PT is expected to be signed in late March 2012.

A two-year refurbishment will restore it to a full state of repair and it will reopen as a campus for executive education and degree programmes.

Marylebone Library will permanently move to a local venue with more space and modern facilities.  Two new locations for the library are being condiered; Luxborough Street and Moxon Street.

Whilst a new permanent home for the library is found and built, a temporary library will be provided at a nearby location.

Weddings, civil partnerships and citizenship ceremonies will be temporarily relocated to City Hall. They will return to Council House on completion of the building works in a refurbished room. Council chambers will also return to Council House in a dual-use state of the art lecture theatre and council chamber.

The nationality checking service and registration of births and deaths will permanently move to 317 Harrow Road.
